It does take at least this long for the piercing to heal properly. Keep the piercing jewellery in ALL the time, 24/7, night and day, for at least 4 MONTHS (16 weeks). Twisting jewellery round ‘to stop it sticking’ can cause redness swelling & unsightly lumps! !!! PLEASE DO NOT MOVE, TWIST OR ROTATE THE JEWELLERY !!! If you do acquire a lump then leaving it completely alone is the best option, not cleaning it multiple times a day which just aggravates it even further. To avoid red lumps, NEVER fiddle with the piercing or knock it. The helix, forward helix & anti tragus are particularly prone to knocking & becoming sore or inflammed. This can cause unsightly lumps, redness, swelling or infection. hugging friends, putting on clothes, hairdressers, etc., etc. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, PLEASE CONTACT US STRAIGHT AWAY or SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE.ĬAUTION - Piercings are very prone to accidental knocking. VERY IMPORTANT - If the piercing becomes infected, see your GP or a Medical Practitioner (before coming to us for jewellery removal) otherwise you could seal the infection in. When fitting new jewellery, ALWAYS use some antiseptic cream to help the insertion go slowly and carefully. It can heal over very quickly if left with no jewellery in (even in just half an hour!). When the piercing has fully healed, ALWAYS wear jewellery in it, even whilst sleeping. Twisting earrings round ‘to stop them sticking’ can wind hair into the ear & cause an abscess! Clean non-fluffy tissue or kitchen roll may be used instead to wipe area if necessary. NEVER use Cotton Wool, Buds or Pads. The fibres get stuck in the piercing and are often the main cause of problems. PLEASE leave the area completely ALONE & DO NOT USE any products on the piercing. In most cases it causes more of a problem. You do not need aftercare lotion because your body will heal your piercing naturally so please do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Old aftercare advice about moving jewellery daily & applying lotion is completely outdated & does not help with the healing. OVER CLEANING WILL CAUSE INFECTION ! Showering as usual counts as cleaning your piercing so no further action is necessary. Should a problem occur with your new piercing, DO NOT remove the piercing jewellery until you have consulted with your doctor beacause any infection can be sealed in once the jewellery is removed. If necessary we can supply something flexible for clients that are unable to prevent themselves from knocking their piercings. Should a client have problems with the healing of a new piercing then we can always give them further advice. It is of the utmost importance that these instructions are followed carefully. This will save paying the fitting charge when changing the jewellery for the first time. On the reverse of these instructions is printed a FREE FITTING VOUCHER. For this reason, as well as giving verbal advice, they will have received full written instructions complete with our telephone number and e-mail address attached. Who can blame them? A painless piercing is like winning a prize. When the piercing procedure has been completed, the client is usually so excited that they cannot concentrate fully. If the piercing suffers an accidental knock or trauma then it could take longer. ![]() The healing times stated in the following instructions are a Guideline only. Our piercing techniques are radically different from any other studio, our healing times WILL DIFFER TOO. If you have had a piercing from another piercing studio then it is likely ours will be completely different. AFTERCARE The aftercare advice that is given, only applies to piercings that are performed in our own studio.
